Who we are

Rapid Recovery is run by George Mitchell from Corby, Northamptonshire. George has been in vehicle recovery for over five years and built the business around what people actually want when their car lets them down: someone who picks up the phone, a straight price, and a truck that turns up when promised.

We are a local business, not a national call centre passing jobs down a chain. When you ring 07598 314366, you speak to someone who knows Corby, Kettering and the villages in between. That local knowledge saves time when you are trying to describe where you are on a dark lane or a busy roundabout.

What we believe in

Four things matter on every job:

  • Answering the phone. Day or night, weekends and bank holidays. A recovery firm that doesn't pick up is no use to anyone.
  • Fair, upfront prices. You get a price before we set off. Local breakdown recovery has a £60 minimum charge and jump starts a £40 minimum charge.
  • Arriving when we say. Most call-outs in Corby are reached in 30 to 45 minutes, and elsewhere we give you a realistic time.
  • Treating your vehicle with care. Whether it is a twenty-year-old hatchback or a prized classic, it is loaded and secured properly.

Our fleet

We run five-plus recovery vehicles, chosen so that we have the right tool for most jobs:

  • Spec lift tow trucks for quick roadside recoveries and towing.
  • Beavertail tilt-and-slide transporters with a shallow loading angle, ideal for low cars, classics and non-runners.
  • A van with dollies and skates for low car parks, tight spaces and cars with seized wheels or locked steering.

Some of our trucks can carry one car on the back and tow a second on a dolly. That is useful after a two-car accident, or when a dealer or customer needs two vehicles moved at once.

How we look after your vehicle

Careful handling is one of the main reasons customers come back to us. We strap wheels rather than chaining through alloys. We use the beavertail for low cars so bumpers and sills are not scraped. Non-runners are winched on smoothly rather than dragged. If a car needs to be kept somewhere safe overnight, it goes into our secure storage yard.

Standards we work to

  • PAS 43: the national safety standard for vehicle breakdown, recovery and roadside operations. It covers how we work safely at the roadside, for our team, for you and for other road users.
  • ISO 9001: certified quality management, which keeps our bookings, records and service consistent.
  • Insurance: goods in transit cover on every vehicle we move, plus public liability and road risks cover.

We also hold a waste carrier licence and a scrap metal collector's licence for our scrap car collection service.

What we do

We offer 24/7 breakdown recovery, car transport across the UK, jump starts and battery fitting and scrap car collection. The full list is on our services page, and prices are explained in our cost guides.

Who we work for

Private drivers make up most of our call-outs, but we also work with local garages, car dealers, fleet and company vehicle operators, and insurance and accident management companies. Business invoicing is available by arrangement.

Available when you need us

Cars don't break down to a timetable. That is why we are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including nights, weekends and bank holidays. A flat battery on a frosty Sunday morning, a crash on the way home late at night or a van that won't start before an early shift all get the same response: we answer, we give you a price and we come out. Payment is by card on the day, bank transfer or cash.

Where we work

Our trucks are based in Corby, and we cover Kettering, Weldon, Priors Hall Park, Rothwell, Desborough and the villages around them every day. See all the areas we cover. For longer journeys, we recover and transport vehicles anywhere in the UK.

Helping drivers before they call

We have written a set of plain-English guides on what to do if you break down, how to stay safe on the A14, what to check when your car won't start and how to scrap a car properly. If you need us, contact us any time.
