Car transport in Corby and across the UK
Rapid Recovery moves vehicles that don't need recovering in an emergency, but do need getting from one place to another. You might have won a car at auction, bought one privately three counties away, or need a project car taken to a new home. We collect it, load it onto one of our transporters and deliver it to the door.
We are based in Corby and transport vehicles anywhere in the UK. Short local moves, such as a run to a garage in Kettering, and long trips to the other end of the country are handled the same way, with a fixed price agreed before you book.

Vehicle transport jobs we handle
- Auction collections. Bought at auction and can't get there, or don't want to drive it home untested? We collect it for you.
- Dealer deliveries and trade moves. Car dealers and garages use us to move stock between sites and deliver sold cars to customers.
- Private sale pick-ups. Buy a car privately and we bring it home, so you don't have to travel there and risk driving an unfamiliar car a long way.
- Garage and MOT runs. We take the car in and bring it back, which helps if you can't spare the time or the car isn't road legal.
- Classic and prestige cars. Cars you'd rather not put miles on, or that need careful loading.
- House moves. When you are moving home and need a second car taken to the new address.
- Non-runners and project cars. Cars that don't start, have no MOT or are part way through a restoration.
How booking car transport works
- Send us the details. Collection and delivery postcodes, the vehicle, whether it runs, and when it needs to move. Call, WhatsApp 07598 314366 or use the contact form.
- Get a fixed price. We work out the job and give you one price. That is what you pay for the move as described.
- Book a date. We agree a collection day and a time window, and you give us contact details for whoever is handing over and receiving the car.
- Collection. The driver checks the vehicle over, loads it and secures it to the transporter.
- Delivery. We unload at the delivery address and hand the vehicle over.
- Payment. Card, bank transfer or cash. Dealers and businesses can ask about invoicing.
Vehicles we can transport
- Cars of every size, from city cars to large estates
- Vans up to 3.5 tonnes
- 4x4s and SUVs
- Motorbikes
- Campervans
- Classic cars and low cars
- Non-runners, including cars with seized wheels
If a vehicle is lowered, has a wide body or is unusually heavy, tell us when you ask for a price so we send the right transporter.
Our car transporters and loading kit
We use beavertail tilt-and-slide transporters for most car transport. The bed tilts and slides to the ground, giving a shallow loading angle that suits low cars and avoids scraping bumpers and splitters. The whole vehicle rides on the bed, wheels off the road, for the entire journey.
Non-runners are pulled on with a winch, so there is no need for anyone to push. Where a car has seized brakes or won't steer, dollies and skates let us roll it out of a garage or car park and onto the truck.
Some of our trucks can carry one car and tow a second on a dolly, which can help when two cars are going to the same place.
Our transport is open, not enclosed. Open transport is how the vast majority of cars are moved, and it keeps the cost sensible.
Insurance, safety and standards
Every vehicle is covered by goods in transit insurance while it is with us. We also hold public liability and road risks / trade insurance.
We are PAS 43 accredited, the national safety standard for vehicle breakdown, recovery and roadside operations, and ISO 9001 certified for quality management. Loading at the roadside or on a busy street is done in line with that standard, and cars are strapped down properly before we move off.
How much does car transport cost?
Car transport is priced per job. The main factors are distance, the vehicle, whether it runs, access at each end and how soon it needs to move. You always get a fixed price before you book, with no surprises on the day.
Our car transport cost guide explains how the price is worked out and what to send us for a firm quote.
Why transport a car rather than drive it?
Driving a car yourself looks cheaper on paper, but it often isn't once you add up the train fare to get there, fuel, a day off work and the risk of driving an unfamiliar car a long way. Transport makes most sense when:
- The car has no MOT or tax, so it can't legally be driven on the road except in limited circumstances
- It doesn't run, or you don't trust it to make the journey
- It's a classic, prestige or low car you would rather not put miles on
- The distance is long and your time is worth more than the saving
- You are buying from a seller you haven't met and want the car checked before it covers any miles
- You need two cars at the same address and only have one driver
For a short local move with a healthy car, driving may well be the better option, and we will say so if you ask.
Car transport for garages, dealers and businesses
A good part of our transport work is trade. Garages use us to bring cars in for repair and return them afterwards. Dealers use us to collect auction purchases, move stock between sites and deliver sold cars to customers' homes. Fleets and companies use us to move vans and pool cars to servicing or between depots.
For regular work we can arrange business invoicing. Tell us roughly how often you need vehicles moved and we can talk through how best to work together.
Planned moves and short-notice jobs
Most car transport is booked a few days ahead, which lets us plan the route and combine it with other work where we can. That said, we run five or more trucks around the clock, so short-notice moves are often possible. If a garage needs a car moved today, or an auction needs a car cleared by a deadline, call us and we will tell you straight away whether a truck is free.
Our secure storage yard also helps when the timings at each end don't line up. If a car has to be collected before the buyer is ready to receive it, we can hold it safely until delivery day.

What to have ready for a quote
- Collection postcode and delivery postcode
- Make, model and registration
- Whether it runs, steers and brakes
- Any access issues, such as a narrow lane, a low car park or a car tucked in a garage
- Preferred date, and whether you are flexible
- Contact names and numbers for both ends
- For auction collections, the auction's release details and any collection deadline
Before collection day
Remove valuables and loose items from the car. Note any existing marks, and take a few photos at handover if you like. If the car runs, leave enough fuel to drive it on and off where needed. Have the keys ready for the driver.
