After the jump: keeping the battery healthy

Once the car is running, take it for a proper drive rather than switching it off after a minute. Short hops around the estate won't put back what the starter took out. If the car will be left for a while, starting it and driving it now and then helps. If the same thing happens again soon after, the battery is likely worn and worth replacing before it lets you down somewhere less convenient.
