The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 makes it illegal for scrap metal dealers and collectors to pay cash for scrap, and that includes cars. So we always pay by bank transfer. It also gives you a clear record of the sale.
The paperwork side
We hold a waste carrier licence and a scrap metal collector's licence. Once we collect your vehicle, it goes to a licensed ATF. The ATF:
- Issues a Certificate of Destruction.
- Tells the DVLA the vehicle has been scrapped.

On the day of collection
We turn up at the agreed time and check your ID and any documents. Then we load the vehicle with care, even though it is going for scrap, because we don't want to damage your drive, gateposts or lawn. Payment is made by bank transfer and the car is taken to the ATF.
