After an accident on the A43
If your car was badly damaged on the A43 and isn't worth repairing, we can collect it from wherever it ended up: our secure storage yard, a garage or your home. Once your insurer has settled, or you have decided to let it go, give us a call with the registration.
How do you work out the price?
There are five main things that decide what a scrap car is worth:
- Weight. Most value is in the metal.
- Scrap metal prices. These change with the market.
- Make and model. Some have more reusable parts.
- Completeness. Missing parts lower the value.
- Condition. Heavy damage or rust reduces the price.
Call or WhatsApp the registration, make and model for a quote. Collection is always free. Our scrap car cost guide explains pricing in more detail.
Why don't you pay cash?
Because the law doesn't allow it. The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 bans scrap metal dealers and collectors from paying cash for scrap, including cars. We pay every customer by bank transfer, which also leaves a clear record of the sale.
Our licences and the ATF
We hold a waste carrier licence and a scrap metal collector's licence. Your vehicle goes to a licensed ATF, which issues the Certificate of Destruction and notifies the DVLA. Once the DVLA knows the car has been scrapped, any full months of vehicle tax are refunded to you automatically. For the full process, read our guide on how to scrap a car.
Collections from farms and village homes
Bulwick has farms and homes where an old vehicle may have been parked for a long time. Seized wheels, flat tyres and missing keys are all fine. We winch cars that won't roll and use dollies and skates in tight spaces. We will not load on the A43 itself, so collections are always from a drive, yard or safe place off the main road.
Collection day, step by step
- We arrive at the time we agreed.
- We check your proof of ID and any documents.
- We load the vehicle carefully.
- We pay you by bank transfer.
- The vehicle goes to the ATF for dismantling and recycling.
Things to sort before we arrive
Clear out the glovebox, boot, door pockets and under the seats. Take off any parking permits or toll tags. If you want to keep a private number plate, transfer it off before collection. Once the car has gone, cancel the insurance and any linked direct debits. Have your ID and the V5C ready if you have it.
More than one vehicle?
If you have a couple of old vehicles to clear, tell us. Some of our trucks carry one and tow a second, which can save a trip. Garages, dealers and businesses with end-of-life vehicles can book collections as well.
Sure it is scrap?
Some cars are worth repairing. If you are unsure, we can take yours to a garage with car transport from Bulwick. If it has just let you down on the road, breakdown recovery in Bulwick is the place to start.
A local team you can reach
We are based in Corby and answer the phone, day or night. We are insured for goods in transit, public liability and road risks, and we work to PAS 43 and ISO 9001 standards.
Why not just leave it on the drive?
An unused car still costs money if it stays taxed and insured, and once it is declared off the road it slowly loses value as it deteriorates. Tyres perish, brakes seize and rust spreads. Scrapping it while it is still complete usually gets you a better price than waiting another year, and it frees up the space. With free collection and a quick bank transfer, there is very little effort involved on your side.
