Scrap car collection in Brigstock, from drive, garage or barn
Rural properties around Brigstock often have room for a car to sit unused for years. It might be in a garage, under a cover at the side of the house or at the back of a barn. Eventually, the decision is made to clear it. Our scrap car collection buys the vehicle, collects it free of charge and makes sure it is disposed of properly.
We take cars, vans up to 3.5 tonnes and motorbikes, and they do not need to run.

What counts as a scrap car?
We buy:
- Non-runners and cars with major engine or gearbox faults.
- Cars that have failed an MOT and are not worth repairing.
- Vehicles that have been off the road for years.
- Accident-damaged cars and insurance write-offs.
- Old vans and motorbikes.
- Vehicles with no V5C logbook, as long as you show proof of ID.
Long-stored vehicles
A car that has stood for a long time often has flat tyres, seized brakes and wheels that will not turn. We bring dollies and skates to move it out of tight garages and barns, and our beavertail trucks winch it on without it needing to roll. Let us know about the access, including gates, gravel, mud or slopes, so we can plan the right approach.
How the price is worked out
| What we look at | Effect on price |
|---|---|
| Weight of the vehicle | The biggest factor, as most value is in the metal |
| Current scrap metal prices | These rise and fall over time |
| Make and model | Some models have more valuable parts |
| Completeness | Missing parts reduce the value |
| Condition | Heavy damage or stripping affects it |
Call 07598 314366 with the details for a price. Our scrap car cost guide explains each factor.
Legal payment by bank transfer
The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 bans cash for scrap vehicles. We always pay by bank transfer. That protects you, because there is a clear record of who took the car and what was paid.
Licensed collection and proper disposal
We hold a waste carrier licence and a scrap metal collector's licence. Every scrap vehicle we collect goes to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF). The ATF issues the Certificate of Destruction and notifies the DVLA. Once the DVLA knows, any full months of vehicle tax left on the car are refunded to you automatically.
On the day of collection
- Have your photo ID and proof of address ready.
- Hand over the V5C logbook if you have it.
- Give us all the keys you have.
- Have your bank details ready for payment.
- Remove personal items from the car, including documents in the glovebox.
If the car has a private registration you want to keep, sort the transfer out before we collect it.
Selling to a legitimate scrap buyer
Before you let anyone take your car, check that they hold a scrap metal collector's licence, that they will pay by bank transfer, and that the vehicle will go to an ATF. If they cannot confirm these things, the car may not be scrapped properly and you could remain linked to it on DVLA records. We are happy to answer any of these questions when you call.
Repair or scrap?
If a repair would cost more than the car is worth, scrapping is usually the sensible choice. We can give you a scrap price so you can compare it against any garage quote. Our how to scrap a car guide explains the process from start to finish.
Arranging a time
Tell us when you, or someone with ID, can be with the vehicle. We agree a time, arrive when we say, and call ahead if anything changes. When we get there we check the car matches the description, check ID and paperwork, load it and arrange payment by bank transfer.
Inherited and abandoned-on-the-drive cars
Sometimes a scrap car comes with a house move or a family estate. If you are dealing with a vehicle that belonged to someone else, call us and explain the situation. We will tell you what ID and paperwork we need so the collection is above board.
