Sell my scrap car in Stanion
Old cars hang around in villages. One fails its MOT, a replacement arrives, and the old one ends up on the drive or at the side of the house for months. In Stanion, where off-street space can be precious, that is space you could be using. Our scrap car collection clears it, pays you and handles the legal side properly.
We buy scrap and unwanted cars, vans and motorbikes. Collection from Stanion is free, and the car does not need to run.

Vehicles we will take
- Cars that will not start or have major mechanical faults.
- Cars with no MOT or that have been off the road for years.
- Accident-damaged vehicles, including insurance write-offs.
- Vans up to 3.5 tonnes.
- Motorbikes.
- Vehicles without a V5C logbook, provided you show proof of ID.
How much is my scrap car worth?
Every vehicle is priced individually. The main factors are:
- Weight. Heavier vehicles contain more metal.
- Scrap metal prices. These change with the market.
- Make and model. Some vehicles have more valuable parts.
- Completeness. A complete car is worth more than one with the engine, catalytic converter or wheels removed.
- Condition. Heavy damage can affect the price.
Call 07598 314366 with the details and we will give you a price. Our scrap car cost guide explains each factor.
Paid by bank transfer, by law
The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 bans cash payments for scrap metal, including scrap cars. Any car scrapper offering cash is breaking the law. We pay by bank transfer every time, which also gives you a clear record of the sale.
What happens to your car
We hold a waste carrier licence and a scrap metal collector's licence. After collection, your car goes to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF). The ATF:
- Processes the vehicle in line with the regulations.
- Issues the Certificate of Destruction.
- Notifies the DVLA that the vehicle has been scrapped.
Once the DVLA has been notified, any full months of vehicle tax left on the car are refunded to you automatically.
Checklist for collection day
- Photo ID and proof of address.
- The V5C logbook, if you have it.
- All keys you have for the car.
- Your bank details for the payment.
- Personal items removed, including from the boot, door pockets and glovebox.
- Private plates dealt with before collection if you want to keep them.
Awkward cars are fine
A car that has stood for a long time often has flat tyres, seized brakes or is tucked behind a gate. We bring dollies and skates to move it to the truck without damaging walls, fences or other cars. If it is easy for us to load, it is straightforward. If it is not, we plan around it.
Repair or scrap?
If a garage quote is more than the car is worth, scrapping usually makes more sense. Tell us what is wrong and we will give you a scrap price so you can compare the two. Our how to scrap a car guide covers the full process, from paperwork to the tax refund.
Scrapping a van or motorbike from Stanion
It is not just cars. We collect old vans up to 3.5 tonnes, including work vans that have done their last job, and motorbikes that have been sitting in a shed or garage. For a van registered to a business, have the company details ready, along with ID for the person handing it over. For a motorbike, tell us if it has flat tyres or no keys, so we bring the right equipment to load it safely.
Selling a scrap car the right way
Before you choose anyone to take your car, check they hold a scrap metal collector's licence and will pay by bank transfer. Ask where the car is going and whether you will get a Certificate of Destruction. If a buyer cannot answer clearly, the car may not be scrapped properly, and you could still be linked to it on the DVLA's records. We are happy to answer all of these questions when you call.
Booking a collection
Tell us when you, or someone with ID, can be with the car. We agree a time, turn up when we say, and call ahead if anything changes. On arrival we check the car matches what you told us, check the ID and paperwork, load the vehicle and pay you by bank transfer. If the car is noticeably different from the description, such as missing major parts, we discuss it before loading.
