Why is my scrap car paid by bank transfer?
The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 bans cash payments for scrap metal, and that includes scrap cars. We always pay by bank transfer. It is the law, and it gives you a clear record of the sale.
What happens to the car after collection?
We hold a waste carrier licence and a scrap metal collector's licence. After collection:
- Your vehicle goes to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF).
- The ATF issues a Certificate of Destruction.
- The ATF notifies the DVLA that the vehicle has been scrapped.
- The DVLA refunds any full months of vehicle tax to you automatically.
