Scrap my car in Rushton: how it works
If you want to scrap your car in Rushton, Rapid Recovery Corby makes it simple. We buy end-of-life and unwanted cars, vans and motorbikes, collect them at no charge and pay by bank transfer. Every vehicle we collect goes to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility, so it is disposed of legally and the DVLA is informed.

Is my car suitable for scrap?
We take most vehicles, whatever their state.
| Vehicle | Do we collect it? |
|---|---|
| Non-runner that won't start | Yes |
| No MOT or no tax | Yes |
| Accident damaged | Yes |
| Old van or motorbike | Yes |
| No V5C logbook | Yes, with proof of ID |
How much will I get for my scrap car?
The price we offer depends on:
- Weight, because most of the value is in the metal.
- Scrap metal prices, which change with the market.
- Make and model, as some have more reusable parts.
- Completeness, since missing parts reduce the value.
- Condition, as heavy damage and rust bring it down.
Give us the registration, make and model by phone or WhatsApp and we will make you an offer. There is never a charge for collection. Our scrap car cost guide explains the pricing in more depth.
Payment by bank transfer only
The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 makes it illegal for scrap metal dealers and collectors to pay cash for scrap, including cars. So we always pay by bank transfer. That protects you as well, because you have a record of who bought the vehicle and when.
Licensed from collection to recycling
We hold a waste carrier licence and a scrap metal collector's licence. Your car is taken to a licensed ATF, which:
- Issues a Certificate of Destruction.
- Tells the DVLA the vehicle has been scrapped.
When the DVLA has been told, any full months of vehicle tax left are refunded to you automatically. Our guide on how to scrap a car takes you through the process.
Collecting from Rushton's lanes
Rushton has narrow lanes, so we plan each collection before we arrive. Tell us where the car is, whether it is on a drive, in a garage or at the back of a property, and whether it rolls. Cars with flat tyres, seized wheels or no keys can still be moved. We use winches, dollies and skates to get the car to a safe loading point without blocking the lane for long.
On the day
When we arrive, we check your proof of ID and any documents. We load the car, pay you by bank transfer and take it to the ATF for dismantling and recycling. The whole thing is straightforward and you don't need to arrange anything else.
Accident damaged cars
If your car has been written off or badly damaged and you would rather not repair it, we can collect it from your home, from a garage, or from our secure storage yard if we recovered it after the accident. Let us know where it is and how it is damaged, and we will price it in the usual way.
Things to sort before we come
- Proof of ID.
- The V5C logbook, if you have it.
- Keys, if you have them.
- Personal items cleared out, including the glovebox and under the seats.
- Any private plate you want to keep, transferred off in advance.
After collection, cancel the insurance and any payments linked to the car, and keep a note of the date.
Clearing more than one vehicle
Garages, dealers and businesses with end-of-life vehicles can book collections with us. Some of our trucks can carry one vehicle and tow a second, which is handy when there are two to clear from the same place. Families clearing a relative's home are welcome too, and we will explain the ID and paperwork we need.
Before you decide to scrap
Sometimes a car is worth more repaired than scrapped. If in doubt, ask a garage. We can get the car there through car transport from Rushton. If it has simply broken down, see breakdown recovery in Rushton.
Why use a local licensed collector
We are based in Corby, a short run from Rushton, and we always answer the phone. We are insured for goods in transit, public liability and road risks. Using a licensed collector and ATF means a proper paper trail and no question over whether your old car was scrapped legally.
